The ‘Stinkin Genius’ is taking over the afternoon airwaves on 101.3 ESPN in Burlington, Vermont. Arnie Spanier, who moved to Burlington a few years ago, and has developed a reputation as a top flight national sports radio personality, will join Rich Haskell on the afternoon show, filling the void left behind by the departing A.J. Kanell.
According to a story in the Burlington Free Press, Kanell stepped down last Tuesday in order to pursue other opportunities. He also was the voice of Vermont men’s basketball. It’s unclear who will assume the play by play position going forward.
In addition to losing Kanell, Program director Ryan Matlack is also leaving. Matlack has accepted a position as a production assistant at ESPN Radio in Bristol, Connecticut. He’ll stay on through August 27th before joining the four letter network.
Spanier is scheduled to make his debut with Haskell on Monday August 22nd. He’s expected to continue with his Fox Sports Radio weekend gig as well.
