One year after partnering with FanDuel, the WNBA will extend their deal with the one-day fantasy game site for two more seasons. As part of the extension, their partnership will expand, giving FanDuel the opportunity to stream WNBA games on their platform.
“We’re making FanDuel more fun for more people, including both new and current WNBA fans, and the astounding growth we’ve enjoyed is a direct result of that,” FanDuel CEO Matt King wrote in an email.
The WNBA was FanDuel’s first women’s league partner and last year the website reportedly had more than 2.2 million entries for WNBA games.
“They were a terrific partner in the inaugural year last year. WNBA games on FanDuel were extraordinary by every measure,” WNBA President Lisa Borders told The Associated Press. “The opportunity to stream on their platform is a new one. They are building out the capabilities as we speak. We’d be one of the first, if not the first to stream live on the FanDuel platform.”
In addition to streaming games on FanDuel’s website, their partnership will now offer a “free contest Sunday,” with a prize that includes a trip to Las Vegas. The WNBA season began on Friday, May 18th.
