It seems like every sports television network and streaming service is getting into the high school football business in 2018. Twitter and Adidas have announced a partnership that will see the athletic wear giant stream coverage of eight games through its Twitter feed @AdidasFBallUS.
Only four of the eight games to be streamed have been announced thus far.
- 9/7 – Cedar Grove (Ellenwood, GA) vs. McEachern (Powder Springs, GA)
- 9/14 – Ben Davis (Indianapolis, IN) vs. Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN)
- 10/12 – Marietta (Marietta, GA) vs McEachern (Powder Springs, GA)
- 10/18 – Doral (FL) vs. Chaminade (FL)
The series, called Friday Night Stripes, will feature games in Georgia, Indiana, California, Florida, and Nevada played between September 7 and November 9. Courtney Lyle of ESPN and the SEC Network will handle play-by-play. Former Packers linebacker AJ Hawk is the analyst. Orlando-based comedian and YouTuber Cameron “Scooter” Magruder will be on the sidelines.
In a press release, Adidas says the presentation will put a focus on multiple content streams. It’s the kind of viewing experience that traditional television broadcasts couldn’t offer.
The live streams will also be accompanied by a Twitter timeline, featuring related real-time conversation to create a unified experience for viewers to watch, Tweet and view commentary about high school football’s top teams.
