Sunday will be the final day the Pac-12 Network will be a part of the channel lineup for AT&T’s U-verse. It is a major blow to the conference network, U-verse is its largest national distribution partner. On top of that, no deal with U-verse probably takes the possibility of ever getting a deal done with DirecTV off the table as well. The satellite service is also owned by AT&T.
Pac-12 Network SVP and head of distribution issued a statement today saying that the conference has known for some time that a new deal might not get done. He added “We are of course disappointed by AT&T’s decision to no longer carry Pac-12 Networks on AT&T U-verse; we made every effort to extend our agreement.”
The Pac-12 Conference and AT&T reached a temporary extension in July to keep the network on U-verse through the end of college football’s regular season. That officially ends with Saturday’s conference championship games and a postponed meeting between Stanford and Cal.
