Jamie McMurray Joining Fox NASCAR Coverage

It appears that 2018 was Jamie McMurray’s 16th and final season on the track. Fox announced on Wednesday that the driver is joining its NASCAR coverage in 2019. His primary duties will be on FS1’s NASCAR Race Hub and NASCAR Raceday.

SVP of NASCAR Production for Fox Sports, Steve Craddock said that the company is looking for the right personalities to compliment its new state of the art studio and that McMurray fits that bill. “Jamie McMurray brings a fresh-off-the-track perspective and a modest likeability everyone can relate to. He is a great addition to our team,” he said.

Jamie McMurray is excited for the transition. He worked as a guest analyst on NASCAR Race Hub in October and November. He also provided color commentary for Fox’s coverage of XFinity Series races on multiple occasions in 2017 and 2018.

“As my driving career got closer to the end, I thought about doing TV but wasn’t sure until I did a couple of Nascar Race Hub shows at the end of this year,” McMurray said in a press release. “I really enjoyed it more than I expected. It’s a whole new world, but that’s what I am most excited about – the new challenge and discomfort that comes with doing something completely out of my element.”
