The Monday Night Football crew is going to be a major part of ESPN’s football coverage going forward. After announcing that Joe Tessitore, Booger McFarland, and Jason Witten would join NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay in replacing the beloved Coaches Film Room on ESPN’s MegaCast coverage of college football’s National Championship Game, ESPN executive Lee Fitting told Sports Illustrated’s Jacob Feldman that the crew will be a factor in another MegaCast in 2019.
“We have all intention of including Witt and Boog in our draft buildup because of their knowledge and insight,” Fitting said. He says Booger being a defensive lineman and Witten a tight end give them the ability to provide context to positions that sometimes get overlooked.
Fitting is willing to acknowledge that Monday’s MNF Film Room may be a disaster, but he doesn’t think that will be the case with the NFL Draft. He said watching McFarland and Witten break down film is what made him decide to utilize the team more. He called the experience “entertaining” and added that when it comes to the NFL Draft, “you’ll see them all over.”
