John Focke is leaving the WNBA behind for the NBA. The play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Lynx is heading south to serve the same role for the Charlotte Hornets.
Focke has been a part of Minnesota basketball broadcasts since 2007. In addition to calling the action for the Lynx in that time, he has also served as a producer and studio host for Timberwolves broadcasts.

He will replace Chris Kroeger, who left the mid day host’s chair on WFNZ last year to become the voice of the Hornets. He was unexpectedly let go last month. The Hornets did not comment on the reason for Kroeger’s dismissal. Former radio play-by-play man Steve Martin finished out the regular season.
