Usually a press conference for the US Women’s soccer team is no big deal, but the events heading into the team’s match with France in the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup make the prematch press conference something people might want to see. FS2 will oblige the rubberneckers on Thursday morning.
On Tuesday Eight By Eight magazine asked USWNT star Megan Rapinoe if she was excited about a potential White House invitation for the team. “I’m not going to the f—ing White House,” she responded before adding that she didn’t expect an invitation anyway.
President Trump responded that the team was invited “win or lose” and added that most teams that visit the White House have a wonderful time and consider it an honor. The back and forth is sure to be brought up by reporters and the responses will be watched closely not only by the sports media, but also by the political community.
The press conference will air start to finish on FS2. It begins at 11 am Eastern time. The USWNT faces France in the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals at 3 pm Eastern on Friday.
