TNT To Air AEW On Wednesdays Starting In October

All Elite Wrestling was a major part of Turner’s upfront presentation to advertisers in the spring, but few details of the partnership were made available at that time beyond a linear show on TNT and a digital show on Turner’s B/R Live.

Earlier today, some of the mystery came to an end with a single tweet. AEW’s weekly show will air Wednesdays on TNT and make its debut in October.

Last month the website SEScoops.com reported that AEW had trademarked the name Wednesday Night Dynamite. While it is a good bet that will be the name of the TNT show, nothing have been confirmed.

The Wednesday night time slot is a major victory for the upstart wrestling promotion. First, it’s in no danger of being preempted by TNT’s NBA games. The network carries games every Thursday and some Tuesdays during the basketball season. Also, the AEW will not be going head-to-head against the WWE in its first year on TV.

Raw will continue to air on Mondays on USA, with Smackdown moving to Fox on Fridays this fall. The WWE will have NXT airing Wednesdays on the WWE Network, but that can be streamed on demand any time after it airs live.

The AEW’s first television card will air on TNT October 2 at 8pm Eastern. The two-hour show will be carried live from Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
