You can hear podcasts from The Athletic even if you aren’t a subscriber to the site. The site announced yesterday that it was launching 40 new podcasts and none of them will be behind the site’s subscription paywall.
Most of the new shows are football-focused and feature some big names. Andy Staples’s college football podcast will be there. Geoff Schwartz will also be a part of the new shows.
Subscribers to The Athletic will receive bonus episodes of the new shows. Axios reports that every other episode will be behind a paywall.
These will be the first podcasts from The Athletic that will be available outside of the site or the app. With that in mind, it is very likely that the free shows will feature a number of advertisements for how to sign up for a subscription.
