Charles Barkley used the Blazers’ upset of the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of the teams’ first round playoff series to insert himself into the feud between Blazers star Damian Lillard and FS1’s Skip Bayless.
During a highlight of Lillard hitting a three-pointer, Barkley said “Take that, Skip Bayless, with your punk ass” on Tuesday night’s edition of Inside the NBA. Barkley was adamant about his position too, repeating the jab to make sure the audience heard it. He also added “You know I can’t stand him.”
Bayless and Lillard have been in a drawn out war of words during play inside the NBA bubble. Bayless has said that Lillard hasn’t truly broken out as a superstar. Lillard has said Bayless has backtracked on past criticism of Dame during a phone call between the two.
Multiple former athletes have sprung to Lillard’s defense. Barkley seems to be getting involved, not out of loyalty to Dame or the NBA brotherhood, but instead out of pure dislike for Bayless.
During the highlight, Shaquille O’Neal can be heard saying “Leave that man alone” in reference to Bayless. Barkley’s response is simple. “No. I don’t like him.”
