Longtime Dallas-Fort Worth sports radio host Norm Hitzges announced he’s being treated for bladder cancer.
The enthusiastic radio host hopes to remain on-air despite his diagnosis. Hitzges co-hosts the Norm and D Invasion with Donovan Lewis on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 AM The Ticket.
The 76-year old radio veteran joined The Ticket in 2000 and partnered with Lewis for their current 10am – noon show exactly five-years ago. Earlier this month, Hitzges celebrated his 45th anniversary as a sports radio host.
“Knocked a bit sideways today by the news that Norm is fighting cancer,” Dallas sports radio icon Mike Rhyner tweeted Thursday afternoon. “I’ve known Norm longer than I’ve known anyone else at the radio station, and not by just a little bit…I know everyone up there is standing alongside him as he deals with this and I am right there with them.”
