TSN Reporter John Lu Discusses Covid-19 Experience

John Lu isn’t just TSN’s Montreal bureau chief. For many, he is the face of the network. He provides reports for SportsCentre and also handles in-game reporting duties for the network’s coverage of the NHL and the CFL. He is hoping that recognition will make his audience pay attention to what he has to say about his experience with Covid-19.

Lu took to Twitter on Sunday to detail his experience with the disease, which he says first manifested itself as fatigue, pain, and headaches in early September. Two days after being diagnosed, he says he lost his balance and fell backwards down some stairs.

Once at the hospital, Lu says tests revealed that he had suffered a pulmonary embolism, likely brought on by the coronavirus.

He also offered praise to his wife Caroline. Lu says he has been at home since September 15 and Caroline has been his primary caregiver “at risk to her own personal health and safety.”

“I share this experience with you because I want you to take this shit seriously. If you think it’s a hoax, you’re in for a rude awakening,” Lu wrote in the thread.

He closed the thread to comments. He ended it with a plea to support True North Aid’s fund to support Canada’s Indigenous population that has been hurt by the pandemic.
