Colin Cowherd likely isn’t the first person Andy Reid thinks of after designing a new offensive play, but apparently the FOX Sports Radio host is on the list.
Reid might be the best offensive coach in football. He loves drawing up new plays and asks his players to do the same to encourage collaboration. If he has a new idea he’s excited about, it makes sense to eagerly text Patrick Mahomes or Eric Bieniemy, but Colin Cowherd?
“He may be the easiest person in the NFL to root for,” Cowherd told Peter King during his FOX Sports Radio show. “Sometimes he’ll text me pictures of a play and say, ‘hey, look at this play I just did – Cowherd.’”
Cowherd was quick to add that he promptly deletes the texts and doesn’t send them to anybody.
I turn to Cowherd for his opinions and hot takes, like picking the Denver Broncos to top the Chiefs in the AFC West, and not so much to seek his knowledge of the Chiefs playbook. But if Reid is texting Cowherd his new play designs, how many other people are on the list? Hopefully the 62-year-old head coach is cell phone-savvy enough to keep his offensive schemes from getting into the wrong hands.
