A new application is here that further improves the way fans consume sports. Buzzer is a new app that will provide short-form live sports content to its direct-to-consumer mobile platform, which will be launching later this year.
Buzzer’s CEO is former Twitter head of live sports rights acquisitions, Bo Han. Despite not having launched, the application has already has signed rights agreements with the PGA Tour and the National Hockey League, Sports Business Journal reports.
All parties involved chose not to reveal the financial terms or contract length with both leagues. Nonetheless, Buzzer will be providing fans with PGA Tour tournament content and live NHL game content with customized notifications to its users in the coming months.
The NHL is entering a new era as next season it begins its new television deal with ESPN, and now they’re looking to grow the sport by capturing Gen Z and Millennials and features short, live content. Buzzer provides two-minute live look-ins of NHL games in each regulation period.
