103.9 FM LI News Radio was recognized for its commitment to local news and storytelling. The station garnered eight Press Club Awards at an event held on May 28.
The station is owned by JVC Media. Nine years ago, the company pulled the plug on the rock format and began its transition to news. The journey has been a labor of love for the entire team using a mixture of local news coverage and syndicated programming to become an award-winning outlet.
The station’s afternoon host Frank MacKay, host of Breaking it Down took home seven of the eight awards that the station received.
“The entire team at JVC is so proud of Frank,” said JVC Media president and CEO John Caracciolo. “He brings a passion to this medium and has a fantastic interview and storytelling style that just makes his show appointment listening for all. I am very excited about the future of Frank MacKay and the Breaking it Down program.”
MacKay’s program airs Monday through Friday from 2:00 – 3:00.
