Newsmax Denies Reports Over Hiring Rep. Matt Gaetz

Recent reports suggested that Rep. Matt Gaetz would leave Congress early to take a role with Newsmax. However, a spokesperson for the network wanted to set the record straight regarding the politician.

“Newsmax has had no plans to hire Rep. Gaetz,” Brian Peterson, a spokesperson for Newsmax, told Reuters.

Furthermore, another source close to the situation echoed what the Newsmax spokesperson stated they were “never told [Gaetz] we were interested” concerning Gaetz joining the network.

Reports suggested that Gaetz would leave his House seat to pursue a career in television following an investigation by the Department of Justice over an alleged relationship with a 17-year-old girl, charges he has denied.

Gaetz contemplated leaving Congress to pursue a career in television, eyeing a prominent conservative news channels like Fox News, One America News Network (OANN), and Newsmax.

Nonetheless, in April, Fox News confirmed they had no plans to hire Gaetz.

“No one with any level of authority has had conversations with Matt Gaetz for any of our platforms, and we have no interest in hiring him.”
