NBC anchor Lester Holt is receiving one of the highest honors in broadcasting as he will be inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
The NAB announced that the “NBC Nightly News” anchor is receiving the honor in October during the group’s annual convention in Las Vegas.
“Lester Holt’s integrity, gravitas, and dedication make him one of the preeminent journalists in America today,” said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith.
“Millions of Americans turn to him every day to find out what is happening in their communities and deepen their understanding of the world. We are delighted to recognize his contributions to broadcast journalism by inducting him into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.”
Holt began his role on the NBC evening broadcast in 2015. The anchor took over the position from Brian Willams, who went on leave following an internal review found that he “made a number of inaccurate statements about his own role and experiences covering events in the field.”
The current evening anchor arrived at NBC in 2000 and spent most of his time anchoring the weekend version of the “NBC Nightly News” for eight years and co-anchored “Weekend TODAY” for 12 years.
