Fox News has reportedly threatened legal action against ABC’s Australian investigative TV show Four Corners after the show suggested the network serves as a propaganda network for former President Donald Trump.
The Sydney Morning Herald said the network’s legal counsel sent a letter to ABC suggesting all legal action was on the table for promoting what Fox News refutes as any connection or responsibility for the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.
The letter claims Four Corners ignored Trump’s criticism of Fox News’ coverage of the election.
The network received plenty of criticism from Trump’s camp after its election desk was the first to call the key battleground state of Arizona for Joe Biden, who won the election.
“The episode clearly violates the basic tenets of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s published standards by exhibiting bias and a failure to maintain any level of impartiality in the presentation of news and information,” a Fox News spokesperson said when contacted for comment.
Fox News is owned by Fox Corp, a separate company to News Corp, which owns its Australian assets, and is run by Lachlan Murdoch, Rupert’s eldest son.
