New Jersey 101.5 is hosting a town hall Thursday that will focus on youth suicide. According to the station, the number of kids taking their own lives is on the rise across the Garden State.
“The alarming statistic is the sharp increase in suicide among kids as young as 10,” said Eric Scott, who leads the station’s news and digital departments.
September is also National Suicide Prevention Month. Its goal is to bring awareness that suicide is largely preventable when people seek and receive help.
“Our goal is to remove the stigma surrounding those struggling with thoughts of suicide and connect them with the help they need,” Scott said.
The program’s on-air panel will feature mental health experts, teen suicide advocates, and Roselin Duenas, a youth suicide survivor, and advocate for New Jersey’s LGBTQ+ community.
The town hall will be streamed on the station’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and via the New Jersey 101.5 app.
