The View co-host Joy Behar reacted strongly to Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s criticism of Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg’s paternity leave during her show Friday.
“The rather insecure Tucker Carlson couldn’t resist going full bigot about the whole issue last night,” Behar said.
Pete Buttigieg had been on leave from his job since August after adopting a child. Conservative pundits took the opportunity to question Buttigieg’s commitment to finding a solution to the supply shortage plaguing the United States.
“You know, I mean, he’s mocking, what, his manliness?” Behar asked. Co-host Sara Haines said, “He’s mocking everyone equally. He’s mocking women. He’s mocking men.”
Buttigieg responded to the controversy recently, “ “Even though I’ve been on paternity leave, and I’m proud of it, obviously given the nature of my job, when you take a job like mine, you understand and accept that you’re going to have to be available 24/7, depending on what’s going on, and you’re going to have to engage, and I did even if that meant taking a phone call or making a decision from a hospital room,” he said.
