CNN anchor John King recently revealed on “Inside Politics” that he has multiple sclerosis while discussing the death of former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell.
King drew from his experiences of being immunocompromised, urging all people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus and wear a mask when required.
Nonetheless, the bombshell of King’s news resulted in him appearing on “New Day,” where he elaborated on the disease that he’s kept a secret since his diagnosis in 2008 from those who aren’t close family and friends.
Furthermore, King stated that he hasn’t been able to feel his legs since the late 1990s while covering the Bill Clinton administration. The CNN anchor shared that covering the 2020 election last year was one of the most challenging tasks of his life.
“I hope nobody noticed it, but election week in America was probably one of my worst weeks last year,” King said. “I was having a lot of trouble functioning.”
“You learn to rewire how you do things, and you learn to be much more aware of what you’re going through. And I hope that gives me a lot more empathy for other people.”
