When Chris Wallace decided it was time to part ways with Fox News to head to CNN and serve as an anchor for their upcoming streaming platform CNN+, some questioned the move.
However, it seems as though Wallace could be making his way to weekday primetime cable news hours. According to The Daily Beast, Wallace is one name floated internally to take the pivotal 9 p.m. slot, which has been vacant since the firing of Chris Cuomo.
Cuomo was fired from CNN late last year following an investigation into how much he was involved in his brother’s, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, accusations of sexual misconduct. Afterward, the network hasn’t filled that time slot with Jeff Zucker resigning from his president role.
Soon-to-be CNN President Chris Licht, who will take over the role officially in May, might look externally to make a splashy new hire to fill this vacancy.
However, two people close to the situation to The Daily Beast say that one external name that continues to float around is Brian Williams. The anchor resurrected his career at MSNBC before exiting last year and is eyeing one final act in his career.
