The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, and this week in an interview with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia may have already started World War III.
Despite there not being an outcome yet on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s to invade Ukraine, Zelenskyy said that it’s feasible the decision has set off a trail to full-scale global war.
“Nobody knows whether it may have already started. And what is the possibility of this war if Ukraine will fall, in case Ukraine will? It’s very hard to say,” Zelenskyy said.
“And we’ve seen this 80 years ago when the Second World War had started … nobody would be able to predict when the full-scale war would start.”
The Ukrainian President further underlined that the result of this war puts the “whole civilization at stake.” Zelenskyy continued by saying the Ukrainian people are “unconquerable” even if Russian forces overtake cities, including the capital Kyiv.
“This is what our people have clearly demonstrated,” Zelenskyy said. “Even those settlements that were ruined to ashes by Russian artillery, even those settlements were left unconquered by Russians.”
