CNN boss Chris Licht continues to mold the network into his vision as the Axios reports he’s monitoring anchors to confirm their manner follows the network’s plan to become less biased.
Furthermore, if CNN talents cannot adjust to these new guidelines, they will be ousted from their position.
So Licht wants to provide personalities that may seem polarizing an opportunity to demonstrate they’re ready to uphold the company’s values so that they don’t stain CNN’s journalism brand.
That includes engaging in respectful interviews that don’t feel like PR actions for on-air talent. Also, for producers and bookers, that includes making programming decisions focusing on nuance, not noise.
Licht doesn’t want to shy from personality programming, particularly in prime time, but he intends to assure that biased voices don’t overwhelm in a way that harms CNN.
CNN’s style grew more partisan and hostile during the Trump era and under the oversight of former president Jeff Zucker. Under Licht and Warner Bros. Discovery, they’re attempting to undo the partisan content on their network.
