The responses to the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen are coming from both sides of the aisle, including former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. He calls for dissolving the Supreme Court and ignoring it at the state level.
In a 6 – 3 decision, the court struck down a New York state law on concealed carry, evoking intense replies from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, President Joe Biden, and other officials. However, Olbermann states that the state shouldn’t listen to the ruling.
“It has become necessary to dissolve the Supreme Court of the United States,” Olbermann said. “The first step is for a state the ‘court’ has now forced guns upon to ignore this ruling. Great. You’re a court? Why and how do think you can enforce your rulings?”
Olbermann then added a follow-up tweet to his initial response after it generated a lot of reactions on Twitter.
“This would be a good moment to remind new readers that the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with gun ownership, private or otherwise. The constitution and the amendments teem with property references. Yet, the word “own” is not in the 2A – nor is any synonym.”
