Greg Gutfeld: People Who Accuse Hate Speech Practice It Most

Date:

“The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld said Thursday that the biggest lie behind “hate speech” is that it can be defined. Hate speech has become a popular term following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.

“It opens the door for policing all kinds of speech,” Gutfeld stated. “It works backward from hate speech to misinformation to something that is just disagreeable.”

Meanwhile, two House Democrats are calling on Elon Musk to act against hate speech. According to The Hill, Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Mark Takano (D-Calif.) wrote that there has been an “extreme spike” in the number of tweets with slurs, and engagement with those tweets since the billionaire took over the social media app.

“If you actually believe the policing of hate speech works against hate speech, how do you explain Kanye West?” Gutfeld said. “There was no censorship whatsoever. That’s why sunlight works; if you want to see a bad idea die, let it out.”

“The main point is that the people that are the most vocal about silencing hate speech practice it the most,” Gutfeld added. “[Adam] Schiff deliberately misled America, accused the criminality of Trump, how is that not hate speech?”
