Yesterday, former President Donald Trump was arraigned on 37 charges related to his mishandling of classified documents after his presidency ended. Cable news outlets covered the proceedings extensively, but Tucker Carlson took issue with the coverage.
During his third episode of Tucker on Twitter, the former Fox News host maligned cable news coverage of the event, calling the tone in which it was covered disingenuous.
“Cable news carried every moment of it live,” Carlson said. “‘It’s unprecedented!’, they told us, with what looked like shock. But they weren’t shocked. They knew this was coming. Everyone who paid attention knew it was.”
Carlson’s sentiments were aired in the first episode of his digital show after he was given a cease and desist letter by Fox News. The cable channel argues that Carlson is still under contract and therefore is prohibited from producing video content for any competitor, which it believes includes Twitter.
Lawyers for Carlson have contended that his videos on the social media platform are protected under the First Amendment. Harmeet Dhillon, an attorney representing Carlson, earlier this week claimed that he “will not be silenced — by the far left or by Fox News.”
