WNSR has announced it has entered into a three-year partnership with Tennessee State University to become the radio flagship of the Nashville college.
“This collaboration with TSU perfectly aligns with our mission to provide Nashville sports fans with top-quality coverage,” WNSR Operations Manager Adam Johnson told The Tennessean. “We are committed to showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of TSU athletes, and we are honored to become the radio home for Tiger football. Through this partnership, we aim to elevate the game day experience for all TSU fans and foster a deeper connection between the radio station and the North Nashville community.”
Greg Pogue, host of WNSR’s The Greg Pogue and Jon Burton Show in mid-mornings, will continue as the radio voice of the university’s football and men’s basketball broadcasts. He will be joined by former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Chris Sanders for football, and Albert Dawson will serve as color commentator during the basketball season. Johnson will serve as the executive producer for the broadcasts.
Additionally, coaches shows featuring football coach Eddie George and basketball coach Brian “Penny” Collins will be heard on the station during their respective seasons.
“We are thrilled to return to WNSR, one of the founding stations for TSU Athletics,” said TSU athletics director Mikki Allen. “The profound significance that WNSR will bring to our football and basketball games will undoubtedly be cherished by our devoted fans.”
Tennessee State broadcasts were previously heard on Cromwell Media-owned 94.9 The Fan. The addition of the Tigers to WNSR replaces Vanderbilt baseball and women’s basketball broadcasts that had previously been heard on the station. Earlier this year, it was announced that Vanderbilt baseball would move to 102.5/106.3 The Game, while the University’s women’s basketball games would be heard on 94.9 The Fan.
