Anthony Lima: I Have No Interest in Doing ‘Fire the Coach’ Radio

The Cleveland Browns saw an unexpected victory of the San Francisco 49ers Sunday. However, Browns fans weren’t as excited as Cleveland media members, and 92.3 The Fan morning co-host Anthony Lima has seen enough.

During The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima Tuesday, Lima took out his frustration with callers to the station with a more than two-minute rant against those who simply want the hosts to shout about coaches needing fired any time adversity hits.

“I want to be an engaging show that’s available for everybody,” Lima said. “We don’t censor callers, but we actually probably should start a little bit…I just don’t know what planet I’m on that we’re sitting here excited about evaluating all the big wins. They’re doing this in Pittsburgh. They’re doing this everywhere in San Francisco. They are not happy about the play calling for Shanahan. What I don’t understand is how we become this lowest common denominator thing.

“What is the point of this? It’s an exercise in futility going forward for these fans. I can’t believe that we have gotten it down to the basic level of just wanting to fire the coach after every game. You’re smarter than that,” Lima continued.

“I thought we were a better football town than that. And I thought this whole thing was a build-up into something more special, more spectacular than just doing ‘fire the coach’ radio after a win over the 49ers, a team that nobody thought we had a chance to be going into this game. Every national pundit, every local pundit, all said we are probably gonna get our asses kicked this week. You beat the 49ers and we’re doing ‘fire the coach’ radio? I’m sorry. I have no interest in doing that going forward. I really don’t.”
