Former UN Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley spent the most money with $63.7 million backing the candidate through early January. Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL) spent $58.1 million, with the overwhelming majority of his spending coming in Iowa. Finally, former President Donald Trump bought $51.7 million worth of political advertising, with the majority coming in national ad buys compared to the local strategy employed by other candidates.

Naturally, Iowa — home of the first primary system — received the bulk of the political advertising with $119.6 million spent to target caucus voters in the state. Trump secured a commanding victory in the election on Monday.
