Las Vegas Golden Knights television play-by-play announcer Dave Goucher is going to continue with the team, despite rumors of interest from the Boston Bruins. Jack Edwards retired after 19 seasons calling games on NESN and Goucher’s name and the team’s interest in him were reported by Chad Finn of the Boston Globe.
Goucher was the radio voice of the Boston Bruins for 17 seasons, which included their Stanley Cup win in 2011. He was hired to be the Golden Knights television voice in 2017 and works with analyst Shane Hnidy.
Goucher was a guest on Mercedes in the Morning on Mix 94.1 FM and said, “I’m staying right here in Vegas… It’s very odd for me to be in this circumstance – I think we’ve all been through this. Things kind of come at you out of the blue, and potential opportunities come at you, and you’re humbled by it, and you’re flattered. Look, I’m beyond humbled and flattered of what’s gone on here recently…I think I have one of the best jobs in the NHL right here [in Las Vegas]…I love what we’ve built here over the last seven years… I couldn’t really wrap my mind around leaving all this…”
“People had reached out to me back there [from Boston]… I never even thought that would remotely be an option. They had reached out – everyone with the Golden Knights has been unbelievable in terms of, ‘We get it. You’re from there, and you came from there.’ No disrespect to anybody else, I said, ‘This is not a job and city, X, Y or Z. It’s not just some random job’… When it was all said and done, I felt like we’ve done so much good here over the last seven years… Quality of life here is through the roof, and I feel like I’m blessed to be around some fantastic people to work with every day…”
