Jacobs Media has announced the opening of registration for its annual Techsurvey 2025, calling on commercial radio stations throughout the U.S. and Canada to take part in what is considered the largest research initiative in the radio industry, concentrating on media and technology usage.
The survey is scheduled to commence fieldwork in January, building on the success of the 2024 survey, which involved 500 radio stations and garnered responses from over 31,000 participants.
Techsurvey 2025 is set to explore the evolving digital habits that are impacting the broadcasting industry. This year, the survey will focus on trends, including the use of smart speakers, advancements in voice technologies, and the increasing popularity of on-demand content such as podcasts and streaming platforms like Netflix.
Additionally, it will offer valuable insights into the growing role of social media engagement and the emergence of new media formats.
Jacobs Media will broaden its upcoming survey to encompass 10 to 12 radio formats, including music and spoken word genres. This initiative will enable participants to evaluate their performance against national standards.
This year’s survey introduces new questions focused on exploring the effects of time-shifting on listening behaviors, the appeal of online newsletters, patterns of YouTube usage, and the impact of short-form video content.
Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs said, “Techsurvey 2025 represents over two decades of trend analysis in broadcast and digital media consumption. It is vital for us to track these changes to help the industry adapt and thrive in an increasingly digital world.”
Interested stations must register by December 19th. For further information visit the Jacobs Media website.
