Brad Daugherty, analyst for Cleveland Cavaliers on FanDuel Sports Network Ohio, is going to be joining the NBA on NBC property, he announced on social media Thursday. Daugherty is a former center who played eight seasons for the Cavaliers and made the NBA All-Star team five times. Since his retirement from the league, he has been contributing to a variety of media ventures, including previously working as an NBA and college basketball analyst at ESPN. Daugherty has also worked with NBC as an analyst for its coverage of NASCAR, and he is also a team co-owner of Hyak Motorsports within the NASCAR Cup Series. A spokesperson for NBC confirmed the news to Barrett Media.
“Thrilled to announce I’m joining the @NBAonNBC team for the 2025-26 season,” Daugherty said in a post on X. “I’m pumped for this next step in the journey, and more hoops!”
Daugherty assured Cavaliers fans that he will not be departing his role as the lead analyst for the local broadcasts, although the parameters of his role with NBC on the NBA coverage is unknown at the moment. With the addition of Daugherty, he joins a growing talent roster that includes Mike Tirico, Noah Eagle, Carmelo Anthony, Reggie Miller and Vince Carter. On top of that, the company announced last week that former Chicago Bulls guard, six-time NBA champion and Hall of Fame member Michael Jordan is joining the team as a special contributor.
Comcast-owned NBCUniversal is entering the first season of an 11-year media rights deal with the National Basketball Association under which it will present games on the NBC broadcast network and on Peacock. The company will air six Conference Finals over the term of the deal, along with the NBA All-Star Game, an Opening Night doubleheader and at least two games on Martin Luther King Jr. Day on NBC and/or Peacock each season.
