CNBC Moving Morgan Brennan From Closing Bell: Overtime to New Early Morning Show

Date:

CNBC is making a change in its daily lineup, moving Morgan Brennan from the Closing Bell: Overtime afternoon program to her own early morning show.

In a post on social media, Brennan revealed that Friday will mark her final day helming the show alongside John Fortt and Scott Wapner before starting her own new show later this month. Fortt will also be exiting the program on Friday afternoon.

“I am getting my own show on CNBC!” Brennan shared. “Starting January 26th, join me at 5 AM, as we set the teon for the day and deliver news and analysis you will need to hit the ground running.”

She added that the hour is a unique one, as the program broadcasts in both Europe and Asia during trading hours, while U.S. financial markets are preparing to open.

Morgran Brennan did note, however, she was sad to be leaving Closing Bell: Overtime — which airs from 4-5 PM ET — after working so closely with her colleagues since joining the show in February 2023.

“I am deeply grateful to that team for their incredible ideas, energy and expertise these past few years together,” Brennan said. I could not be more excited about what comes next!”

Morgan Brennan originally joined CNBC in 2013.

Beginning on Tuesday January 20th, Melissa Lee and Michael Sanotli will take over Closing Bell: Overtime. Jon Fortt is set to anchor a new show focused on tech leadership. According to a memo from CNBC Editor-in-Chief David Cho obtained by Barrett Media, that program is “still in development and more details will be shared soon.”

Other moves for CNBC include Brian Sullivan moving from U.S. Markets Edition to now co-anchoring Power Lunch alongside Kelly Evans. Meanwhile, Frank Holland will leave Worldwide Exchange on Friday, January 23rd to become the new anchor of U.S. Markets Edition.

“These moves allow us to refresh our lineup and place our anchors in positions that maximize their impact,” wrote Cho.

  1. Morgan Brennan stinks and John Forte is irrelevant-
    Never watch their show-
    Like their replacements-

Does Scott Wapner ever work a full week?

    • Thrilled that Morgan and John are gone. 4pm was awful with those two. Only could read what was fed to them on the prompter and horrible interviewers. They couldnt wait to ask the next question and you could tell they didnt care about what was being said in response to their question.

Wapner’s show is a highlight but have to agree he seems to barely work a full week. And not the same when he is off.

    • I do wish Mr. Wapner was there everyday. In my opinion his two shows are the best on CNBC. I’m always disappointed when he’s not hosting them.

  2. Strange that Morgan doesn’t thank John Forrt as her partner for the past four years in her announcement! And John Fortt doesn’t have a new assignment yet. I wonder what Fortt did to lose the plum assignment. And Brennan? A 5am slot???!!! That’s the booby prize in broadcast!

  3. The Fortt/Brennan show had become such a bore. I stopped watching it. Let’s hope Santolli & Lee change Overtime into something worth watching.

  4. Sorkin the hypothetical questions he asked at times is a joke. No guest should answer any of that crap questions from him. Its always fun to listen to Joe tear him down on something he said, and fumbles around trying to defend his dumb as questions until CNBC goes to a break to bail him out. I am surprised in away that Liberal NBC did not let Joe go along time ago. Now that they split from NBC, wonder what the future is for the show. Hope that Sorkin stays so he can keep digging his grave

  5. Kernen and Sorkin should both be let go. They have awful on-screen presence. Kernen always mumbling with poor posture, under-dressed for the role of business new anchor, and always trying to talk over other anchors and guests to promote his own political agenda. Sorkin continually looks down, tripping over himself to be even-handed. Very clumsy. Replace both!

    • Wapber is worse then Foort, he doesn’t know crap about stocks and investing, too often when he expresses his opinion his guests on the show disagree and have to educate him about current trends; get rid of him too!

  6. Joe is literally awful. Hard to follow what he is saying with his halting tone. Too political bias and promotes Trump agenda. He needs a position in the White House, not on CNBC.
