Local radio personality Kevin Ingram will be a part of the SEC Network when it launches Thursday.
Ingram, co-host of the Wake Up Zone sports talk radio show on WGFX-FM 104.5, will be the anchor for Vanderbilt’s in-house play-by-play duties for soccer, basketball and baseball.
The first game cast on the network will be Vanderbilt’s women’s soccer team playing Alabama-Birmingham Thursday in an exhibition at 4 p.m.
“The cool thing about the SEC stuff is you never really know what it might lead to,” Ingram said. “My thought was that if I could get in on the ground floor and do a good job then hopefully somebody will notice and I could end up with something bigger.”
Ingram is a former sideline radio reporter for Vanderbilt’s football games.
He is also headed into his 12th year as the play-by-play announcer for Belmont’s men’s basketball radio broadcasts.
Ingram plans to continue his duties at Belmont along with staying on the morning show and serving as the play-by-play announcer for eight Ohio Valley Conference football games of the week on ESPN3.
He will also continue to co-host of the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Hour on Saturdays (11 a.m.-noon) on WGFX during basketball season.
Ingram will not travel for any of the Vanderbilt broadcasts.
