NESN has hired Guerin Austin as the network’s Bruins rinkside reporter, replacing Jamie Erdahl, who is leaving to become to the lead college football sideline reporter on the CBS Sports Network.
She will also work Southeastern Conference games on CBS when there is a doubleheader.
Austin’s experience covering hockey includes five years in Washington D.C. where she hosted Caps Red Line, a weekly look at the Capitals that aired on the NHL Network.
She was also an in-arena host for the team’s home games.
Austin, who was Miss Nebraska in 2004, will also anchor and host NESN programming, and will provide features to NESN Sports Today and NESN Live.
The affable Erdahl, who joined NESN in October 2012, will transition out of her role at the network over the next month.
She won’t be easily replaced. Erdahl proved adept and quick-witted in the often thankless role of sideline reporter, first as a fill-in for Jenny Dell on Red Sox broadcasts. She spent last season as the Bruins’ rinkside reporter.
