Radio Host Jeff Dubay Arrested

Twin Cities sports radio personality Jeff Dubay was arrested Wednesday for suspected methamphetamine possession after a traffic stop for speeding in Cottage Grove.

Police said Dubay, 47, was stopped about 5 p.m. after he was clocked at 50 mph in a 35 mph zone near Park High School. Dubay was driving with a suspended license and had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from Wright County for no insurance.

A subsequent search found two hypodermic needles and a baggie containing a trace amount of suspected meth, police reported.

Dubay, who lives in Cottage Grove, was booked into the Washington County jail for the warrant and on suspicion of felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. He could face misdemeanor charges for possession of a hypodermic needle, speeding and driving after suspension. Formal charges were pending.

A longtime co-host on sports radio station KFAN, Dubay was convicted of felony crack cocaine possession in 2009. He was fired after the arrest, but later hired to co-host a show on 1500 ESPN. In 2014, he was let go in what the station described as a cost-cutting move. He runs a sports-themed podcast called the “Jeff Dubay Show.”
