YSR Adds Zack Spears

Yahoo Sports Radio announced today that former Iowa State University football player and long-time analyst Zack Spears will join the network’s fall football coverage. Beginning Saturday, August 8th, Spears will join Matt Perrault as co-host of the 2pm-6pm ET program throughout pre-season, and in September, he will headline Saturday college football coverage and Sunday NFL coverage with shows in primetime game-time – Saturdays, 3pm-8pm ET and Sundays, 1pm-5pm ET. Taking listeners through the action from a former player’s inside perspective, Spears will be alongside a mix of co-hosts during these shows.

Craig Larson, Yahoo Sports Radio COO and Program Director, said, “We are excited to welcome Zack to the team as we gear up our football programming. His experience brings a great deal to the table.”

Prior to joining Yahoo Sports Radio, Spears worked with the Tyler, Texas CBS TV and ESPN Radio affiliates for four years. Zack served as co-host of live radio shows and weekly podcast programs, providing editorial analysis of football, basketball and all sports-specific topics for the television and radio station. Spears also worked as an on-site analyst at Dallas Cowboys games, covered college basketball for 247sports, including Boston College, and aided with the coverage of Georgetown and Duke Blue Devils coverage. The retired football player also created his own podcast network and hosted five shows a week on an array of topics. Zack Spears is a graduate of Iowa State University where he was a member of the Cyclone football team after leaving the small town in East Texas, Arp, where he grew up – Arp is also home to legendary college basketball coach Guy Lewis.
