Grove Out As Pens Radio Host

Bob Grove, who has covered the Penguins in some capacity for most of their existence, has been told by the organization that he won’t be back for another season on the Penguins Radio Network.

Grove, who has done radio work with the Penguins since 1998, was told over the phone that his job has been opened. Here is the official job opening.

He hosted the pregame and postgame shows before and after Penguins broadcasts, as well as intermission reports. He previously covered the Penguins as a newspaper reporter. He also hosted a show that aired on Saturday mornings and is well known for his easy going demeanor and remarkable — perhaps unrivaled — knowledge of Penguins history.

“I’m very disappointed,” he told DKPittsburghSports.com. “But I want to thank the Penguins organization for treating me so well along the way. I also want to thank Mike Lange, Phil Bourque and Ray Walker for being such a great team to work with for so many years. And I want to thank the fans. I have a lot of great memories of all the shows we did.”

Grove is employed full-time by Comcast as head of public relations.
