Despite going thru some on-air transition, 790 The Ticket in Miami has enjoyed a few good months in the ratings. For the April book, the story was no different.
The Ticket finished two tenths of a point ahead of WQAM, and seven tenths in front of 940 WINZ. Given that 790’s morning show just added Amber Wilson, Ethan Skolnick’s afternoon show was still utilizing rotating co-hosts, and middays are still in transition following the departure of Eric Reed, this is excellent news for the radio station.
For WQAM, numbers are slightly down month to month. They did have a Panthers playoff run on their airwaves, but The Ticket was in stronger shape thanks to carrying Miami Heat playoff basketball.
With the Heat still alive in Round 2, and the Panthers officially eliminated courtesy of the New York Islanders, that would seem to benefit The Ticket leading into next month. If the Heat can find a way to rally and defeat the Raptors, a showdown with LeBron James’ Cavaliers awaits, and that would certainly provide a spike for the radio station.
Meanwhile for WINZ, the return of Miami Marlins baseball helped deliver one additional tenth of a point month to month, but in the grand scheme of things their numbers are still very low. The loss of a local program (The Finsiders) also didn’t help matters.
