Mike Wickett announced this morning that he’ll be leaving 105.7 The Fan in Milwaukee after nine and a half years with the radio station. Wickett has been a part of the morning show with Chuck Freimund, and has accepted an opportunity in Kansas City. He will remain on the air for the next two weeks before signing off.
During his announcement he expressed a great deal of appreciation towards his current Program Director Tom Parker, and former boss Ryan Maguire. He acknowledged that the new opportunity in Kansas City satisfied some personal and professional objectives but added that parting ways with a brand which had been a huge part of his life for the past decade was extremely difficult.
The best line he used during the announcement was when he talked about how Milwaukee became a bigger part of his life than he could have ever imagined. He mentioned that he didn’t know anything about the area when he first arrived, but now when people ask him where he’s from he adds “I’m from Detroit, but I grew up in Milwaukee”.
