Angelo Cataldi Hints At Retirement After 2017

Philly Mag’s Victor Fiorillo conducted an interview recently with WIP sports talk radio host Angelo Cataldi who acknowledged that he’s expecting to retire when his contract expires next year. Cataldi has raised the possibility of walking away from the radio station in the past so whether he sticks to it or not remains to be seen but the Philadelphia talk show host added that he believes this will be the end of the run and when it’s over he will walk away happy.

A few other parts of the interview which stood out are based on Cataldi’s comments about WIP’s huge promotion “Wing Bowl” and what he loves and dislikes about his job.

On the subject of his job, Cataldi said that the best part is the money. He says he’s made more than he ever thought he’d make. The bad part is that he’s had to wake up at two in the morning for the past twenty six years, which has been a grind. He added that his doctor recommended that he leave the business ten years ago, due to the pressure he deals with every day. Cataldi pointed out that his voice isn’t what it used to be, and he’s been beaten up.

Regarding Wing Bowl, when asked about people who call the promotion trash, he said they may have a point. Cataldi added “even we have grave misgivings about it. What it is now wasn’t the plan that we designed 24 years ago.”
