Tony Kornheiser has announced that his new podcast will be distributed by DGital Media and IMG. Kornheiser previously hosted on ESPN 980 in Washington DC before announcing in late June that he was departing terrestrial radio for the podcasting platform. DGital Media has built a strong presence in the digital space, offering podcasts with notable personalities such as Adrian Wojnarowski, Jeremy Roenick, J.J Reddick and Chris Mannix.
“The Tony Kornheiser Show” is expected to relaunch as a daily download on Tuesday September 6th. It will be available through iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher, TuneIn and other podcast distribution channels.
“Tony is one of the few national personalities who continues to generate both buzz and news on a daily basis,” said DGital Media Chief Content Officer Chris Corcoran. “His storytelling expertise and sports knowledge are unmatched, and we are excited to create an exciting new home for his show and his fans.”
“On-demand audio gives me the chance to connect with my audience in a very personal, meaningful way,” said Kornheiser. “The relaunch of the show to a platform that gives us more freedom to be the combination of smart and funny that we strive to be as we babble about the sports, politics, news and absurd stories of the day is a perfect match. I’m excited to partner with DGital Media and IMG as we look for ways to give our fans, new and old, more of what they love about the show.”
“Across all mediums, Tony Kornheiser has come to represent honest, pointed and entertaining storytelling in sports journalism,” said WME/IMG Chief Content Officer Mark Shapiro. “Given our long history, I’m personally excited to be reunited with Tony and his unique brand of commentary. Our entire WME/IMG team is proud to be a part of evolving Tony’s iconic show for the digital age.”
