The Vancouver Canucks are changing radio partners. TSN 1040, the team’s current radio home, sent out a tweet thanking the franchise for 11 great seasons of hockey on their airwaves.
According to the Vancouver Sun, the Canucks are expected to sign on with Rogers Media. The team currently plays it’s games inside of the Rogers Arena, and Rogers owns 55 radio stations across Canada including three stations in Vancouver.
The report states that TSN made a strong three-year bid to retain the rights, and staff members has been told all signs looked positive. However, the station learned on Wednesday evening that it would no longer be retained as the team’s radio partner.
Rumors are circulating that Rogers could launch a sports station in the market as a result of landing the Canucks contract, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Stay tuned for further developments.
