After Lance Zierlein announced his intentions to depart SportsTalk 790 at the end of his contract, the iHeartMedia Houston sports radio station was forced to make adjustments. Today, the radio station has revealed the new weekday lineup which will officially be installed on Monday July 17th.
As BSM previously reported, Josh Innes will move from afternoons to mornings. Innes returned to Houston in October 2016 to take over afternoons from Charlie Pallilo. He will now start the conversation each day on 790, broadcasting his show weekdays from 6a-10a CT.
“We’ve received a lot of great feedback since Josh joined SportsTalk 790,” said Bryan Erickson, Director of AM Programming for iHeartMedia Houston. “Love him or hate him, he’s one of the most passionate guys on the radio right now and that resonates with sports fans.”
The changes will impact middays too. “In the Trenches with Koch & Kalu” shifts back an hour to 10a-12p CT. Current morning show co-host Matt Thomas also changes time slots, regaining his own show. Thomas will be heard weekdays from 12p-3p CT.
To fill Innes’ void in afternoons, 790 will move “The Bottom Line with Adam Clanton and Sean Jones” from middays to drive time. The show will also gain a third member. Veteran football scout, writer and fantasy football expert Jayson Braddock will join the mix and be heard alongside Clanton and Jones weekdays from 3p-6p CT.
“At SportsTalk 790, we have some of the most knowledgeable sports experts and live and local programming in Houston,” said Erickson. “We’re extremely excited for this new lineup, which will provide Houston’s sports fans with even more exciting updates, insights and compelling conversation about the teams they love.”
