97.1 The Fan in Columbus has added a new midday show. Former Ohio State and St. Louis Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis and Beau Bishop are teaming up to host M-F 10a-12p on Columbus’ top rated sports station. Laurinaitis retired from the NFL last year and has been working as an analyst for the Big Ten Network. Bishop returns to The Fan after spending time with 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. He also hosts a TV show on Spectrum Sports and formerly anchored on The Fan’s CBS affiliate WBNS-TV.
Bishop and Laurinaitis are taking over the early midday program from the talented team of Tim Hall and Beanie Wells. Wells, a former running back for Ohio State and the Arizona Cardinals had to take on a reduced on-air role due to a brain injury, which he’s currently receiving treatment for in California. He attributes the injury to his playing days.
Hall meanwhile is also staying involved with the station but in a different capacity. He’ll now host the “Buckeye Show” weeknights from 6p-7p ET.
