ESPN basketball reporter Jeff Goodman is saying goodbye to Bristol and hello to the streaming sports world. The Big Lead has learned from an anonymous source that Goodman is leaving ESPN to sign a multi-year deal with Stadium, which is a streaming sports platform, but recent hires suggest they may be making a move towards being a news outlet as well. You might recall that in April Richard Deitsch reported that former ESPN college football reporter Brett McMurphy is also expected to join Stadium.
Neither Goodman nor ESPN would comment on the latest report.
Goodman wrote for ESPN’s Insider subscription service and served as a reporter for SportsCenter since leaving CBS in 2013. His duties at Stadium will include writing, breaking news, analysis, as well as sit down interviews. His beat will include both college basketball and the NBA.
Stadium is part owned by Major League Baseball, the NHL, and the PGA Tour along with Sinclair Media. The company streamed 47 games on Facebook last season and had deals in place with the Atlantic 10, Conference USA, the Mountain West, and the West Coast Conference.
