Amazon Brings Documentary on World Cup Champs to US

The documentary Les Bleus 2018, Au Coeur de l’Épopée Russe (Les Bleus, the Heart of a Russian Epic) aired the day after France defeated Croatia in the World Cup Final on French network TF1. Now the documentary will come to the US on Amazon Prime as part of the streaming service’s commitment to soccer content.

An article in Variety explains just how in depth the documentary goes with the World Cup champions.

The two directors of “Les Bleus,” Emmanuel Le Ber and Théo Schuster, lived with the French football team for more than two months, following the players, coaches, and staff as they prepared at France’s national football center, Clairefontaine. The French Football Federation supported the producers, who said that the federation’s president, Noël Le Graet, and managing director, Florence Hardouin, played an essential part in getting it made.

Les Bleus 2018, Au Coeur de l’Épopée Russe aired on TF1 as a single 2 hour movie. Amazon Prime, which will make the film available around the world beginning in October, will present it as a four part mini-series.

In addition to the documentary on the French national team, Amazon has a documentary about the English Premier League team Manchester United in the works. The company also won the streaming rights in Europe to a package of EPL games.
