HBO Adding LeBron James’ New Talk Show ‘The Shop’

The Shop, a talk show featuring LeBron James, has been airing on Uninterrupted since 2016. Now, the show which James created with his business partner Maverick Carter, has been picked up by HBO. James shot the first episode that will air on cable earlier this week in Los Angeles.

Both LeBron and Maverick Carter are in the first episode, which airs August 28 at 11pm. They have conversations with Snoop Dogg, Saints running back Alvin Kamara, Draymond Greene, Candice Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks, and former Daily Show host Jon Stewart.

According to Marisa Guthrie at The Hollywood Reporter says that HBO has been vague about the how many episodes of The Shop it has ordered, and currently there is no set air date for the second episode.

So far he’s slated to appear in at least the first three episodes of The Shop. HBO Sports has left the episode order somewhat vague given James day job. So it’s unclear when the second episode will air.

“We’ll do it as frequently as the conversation warrants,” says Peter Nelson, executive vp of HBO Sports. “It’s LeBron’s baby, so he very much wants to do it. And he wants to do it as much as possible.”

The Shop is the second collaboration announced between HBO and James. His documentary about the NCAA’s treatment of its athletes, titled Student Athlete, will debut on the network in October.
